The Teaching of the Immortal Han Xiangzhi Seminar: The Art of the Pure Maiden.

“The Art of the Pure Maiden”, also known as “The Art of the Bedchamber”, is perhaps one of the most speculative topics in Daoist alchemy. This is due both to the positioning of the practice itself in society and to the practical methods – once related to “The Teaching of He Xiangu”, or the alchemical processes connected with the nature of the female body, and second – to the development of internal breathing and “The Teaching of Han Xiangzhi”.

| Acquiring the Velvet Body |  | The “Acquiring of the Velvet Body” (wai yin) is the first gate to the “Art of the Bedchamber”. This process is related to ‘the art of interacting with women of the first and second order’. The ‘Velvet body’ is the type of body in which a ‘yellow flower’ is being created, known in the alchemical treatise as the result of the merging of lead (the essence derived from the circulation of energy by the male principle) and mercury (the essence obtained from the circulation of energy by the female principle). The circulation by the male principle determines the inclusion of the male seed energy into the process of circulation, and by the female – of the female seed. According to the Daoist teachings, a person's vitality is determined by his ability to absorb the Qi energy produced by the body and the vital power is determined by his ability to absorb the Jing energy. This, however, is only possible if the energy circulates in the already ‘Altered Body’ – which is actually the ‘Velvet Body’. | |
| Acquiring the Amber Body |  | The “Acquiring of the Amber Body” (bo yin) is the second gate to the “Art of the Bedchamber”. It is related to ‘the art of interaction with women of the third order’. The ‘Amber Body’ is the condition of transition to the ‘phase of wholeness’. Prior to the acquiring of the ‘Amber Body’ – the ‘Velvet Body’ is being known. The energy in it, thogh, is still in a non-constant form, and despite the fact that it helps uniting the ‘Velvet Body’ – "the juice still runs out." To eliminate the "leak of juice from the cracked bowl" – the ‘Amber Body’ should be created. The ‘Amber Body’ relies on the nature of the personal spirit and seals the leaking of the seed (wu lou jing). The energy is in a constant fusion with the spirit. The naturally generated Jing energy is being absorbed by the body. The body itself begins to acquire the property of paste. The ‘Amber Body’ is composed of red stone paste, where physiological processes begin to take on a different meaning. The body itself becomes like amber or amber clay, the organs produce Jing energy like tricalcium silicate, i.e. the processes are getting compacted, grouped. As a result, the body is saturated with metal salts and the blood is saturated with red ochre. | |
| Acquiring the Jade Body |  | The “Acquiring of the Jade Body” (yu ti) is the fourth gate of the “Art of the Bedchamber”, which is related to ‘the interaction with women of the sixth and seventh order’. Here is carried out an intercourse with the energy of the highest value – the energy allowing us to change our destiny, which also means "to open the way to the undivided." The ‘dark and white’ has ceased to separate, though it continues to be present. The presence of constancy allows one to interact with higher order forces, with forces possessing a spatial structure, i.e. mineral forces. The merging with the mineral force is actually forming the ‘Jade Body’. “The Art of the Bedchamber” transforms the seed into lead and maintains a constant fire in the crucible. The created conditions of irreversibility of the Jing energy and cinnabar create the ‘six-one’ fruit, consisting of an equidistant mixture of six bases of ‘red stone paste’ and one basis of ‘white stone paste’. |
